Smith Mountain Lake Youth Athletics (SMLYA) is a local 501(c)(3) non-profit organization offering football and cheerleading for kids ages 5-12. Our program goes well beyond the field. Our mission is to empower our youth through the highest standards of athletics while building a foundation of self-development and community involvement. Our players and staff are heavily involved in volunteerism and charity work. We participate in many team building and family days ranging from family dinners at practice to lake days with all 150 players!

We also offer free services such as tutoring and financial aid to those who qualify. The Crusaders are a private organization and not associated with any local county recreation departments.

All practices for all age group are held on the same day in Moneta to lessen the burden on families. We also several car pool options for practices and games. We can’t wait for you to be part of the Cru!
